World Water Day – March 22
2012 will be the year of Water and Food Security. There is a direct correlation between water availability and undernourishment. Drought ranks as the single most common cause of severe food shortages in developing countries. Drought caused more deaths during the last century than any other natural disaster.
The Looming Water Revolution
There is talk about a global water crisis and some people expect wars to be fought over water rights. Countries such as Iran, Pakistan, and Jordan are all facing water crises, but the threat is not only in the Middle East; parts of Australia, China, even the US are stressed by lack of water resources.
