New Trash Skimmer: To Maintain Milwaukee’s Rivers and Harbor
Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District has purchased a new Aquatic Trash Skimmer from Aquarius Systems to replace a 23-year old trash skimmer. The smaller, old boat removed 1,683 cubic yards of debris, plus 38 tree trunks from the surface of Milwaukee’s rivers and harbor in one year; the new larger boat is capable of removing more plastic trash, dead fish and other floating debris more quickly from the waterways.
Aquatic Weed Control
An aquatic weed harvester as a tool to manage aquatic vegetation simultaneously cuts and removes vegetation from the water. As this vegetation is removed from the lake, the water is immediately ready for use and there are no restrictions on use of the area that might be experienced with herbicide or some biological control treatments.
